The Respect Arc Journey Begins: Baglady, Boxlady & Daisy the Bear

The respect arc journey begins! Join in as Shirley the Baglady, Marina the Boxlady and Daisy the Bear make their way from the Red Bin of Waste (RBW) towards the Golden Green Circle of Sustainability (GGCS).

At the Red Bin of Waste, Daisy finds Baglady sobbing and heartbroken by the deteriorating state of the environment.

Baglady and Boxlady join Daisy on the respect arc journey.

 

This is a journey about respecting the four elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

Respect arc

Earth is: 

  1. Place (you can’t be born unless you’ve got a place to land)
  2. Food
  3. Shelter (clothes, bedding, curtains to draw, a well-insulated house with good sustainability)
  4. Animals and plants

Air is: 

  1. The sky (clouds, birds)
  2. Wind
  3. Trees
  4. Insects
  5. Communications

Fire is:

  1. Sun (light)
  2. Lightning
  3. Energy (cooking, labour)

Water is:

  1. Water bodies (lakes, oceans, rivers, streams)
  2. Boats
  3. Rain
  4. Washing
  5. Drinking
  6. Fish, water creatures

We do this by Living As Sustainably As Possible (LASAP). This includes:

GASAP: Growing/gardening ASAP 

  1. Community gardens
  2. Permaculture (an Australian idea!)
  3. Organic gardening
  4. Rooftop/patio gardens

SASAP: Shopping ASAP

  1. Buy sustainable things
  2. Buy locally-grown produce

CASAP: Cooking ASAP

  1. Use energy sustainably
  2. Use sustainable equipment

EASAP: Eating ASAP

  1. Avoid plastic forks and disposable plastic
  2. Avoid covering food with gladwrap

ClASAP: Cleaning up ASAP

  1. Wash sustainably
  2. Composting
  3. Separate out the waste (recyclables from non-recyclables)

EnASAP: Energy ASAP

  1. Renewable energy
  2. Reduce energy use
  3. Be more energy-efficient

  1. Shorter showers
  2. Turn off taps properly
  3. Conserve water

  1. Walk or ride your bicycle (instead of driving)
  2. Acupuncture
  3. A healthier environment = healthier plants, healthier animals, healthier people
